The increase in population, the changes in social and economic structure and the differentiation of requirements have caused a greater need for nurses in the health sector. Research has established a clear link between higher levels of nursing education and better patient outcomes. The Nursing Programme at Fenerbahçe University aims prepare students to become dedicated nurses, who will be competent in the treatment and care of patients before, after, and during treatment applying scientific problem-solving methods when planning, implementing and evaluating care needs with a holistic approach and in accordance with professional standards. The programme offers individual and professional development with an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative academic staff and prepares the students to become professionals equipped with the competencies to deliver high quality, safe and culturally sensitive health care to diverse individuals, families and communities. Graduates will be able work in a wide variety of clinical settings. They can practice in hospitals, nursing facilities, public health, home health, elementary and high schools. The Nursing Bachelor Degree Programme Graduates; will be equipped with the knowledge, skill and abilities to practice nursing safely, effectively and efficiently. The graduates will be able to apply critical thinking and judgment when solving problems to meet the health care needs of individuals, families and communities in a variety of settings. The graduates will have knowledge of the emerging patient care technologies and information systems as well as health care policy, finance, and regulatory environments and global health care trends in nursing practice. The graduates will have effective communication and collaboration skills and integrate professional values, attitudes, knowledge, and behaviours for improving patient care outcomes. They will have knowledge for practicing nursing according to professional, ethical, and legal practice standards. The graduates will have the knowledge and skills to take care of patients and comfort them throughout their recovery period. They will be able to advise them on the best health choices, administer prescribed medication and take care of their overall well-being. The graduates will have knowledge of clinical prevention strategies to promote health and prevent disease, and be able to apply principles that enhance safety for patients and health care providers.
