Our university, which was established with the law numbered 5662, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 29 May 2007 and numbered 26536, Prof. Dr. With the appointment of Azmi ÖZCAN as the Rector in December 2007, he started his education activities.

It was established with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Social Sciences and Science Institute affiliated to the Rectorate. Dumlupınar University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Osmaneli Vocational School, Pazaryeri Vocational School, Gölpazarı Vocational School, Söğüt Vocational School; School of Health and Vocational School of Health Services, affiliated to Osmangazi University Rectorate; Vocational School and Bozüyük Vocational School affiliated to Anadolu University Rectorate were included in our university.

The name of Bilecik University was changed to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University with the law that came into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated April 27, 2012 and numbered 28276.

In accordance with Article 130 of the Turkish Constitution and Article 13 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, gave Prof. Dr. İbrahim TAŞ has been appointed as the Rector of Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University.
