1: İstanbul Technical University

Istanbul Technical University is the world’s third-oldest technical university dedicated to engineering sciences as well as social sciences recently. Moreover, it is one of the most prominent educational institutions in Turkey.

Founded by Mehmed II on 1453, it reopened in 1846 as the first Ottoman higher education institution.

3: Boğaziçi University

Founded in 1863, as Robert College, it was the first American higher education institution founded outside the United States. The university still maintains strong ties to the American educational system. This means that the institution is quite popular among students from the USA who want to study in Turkey.

Boğaziçi University consistently ranks as Turkey’s top university. It has the greatest number of applicants via the Turkish university entrance examinations. Therefore, it is the most selective state university in Turkey.

Boğaziçi University operates on six campuses in Istanbul. Four of these campuses are within walking distance to each other on a hill overlooking the Bosphorus.
