1: Ege University

Ege University or Aegean University is a public research university in İzmir, Turkey. It opened in 1955. It is the first university to start courses in İzmir and the fourth oldest university in Turkey.

Bornova Campus of Ege University is situated on an area of 370 hectares. The campus covers a wide range of facilities including culture, sports and social services.

Since the campus is at the crossroad between Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, intercity transportation is very fast. Apart from this, intercity transportation provided by municipal bus and underground services enables students to reach the campus from every part of the city. The General Directorate of Students’ Credits and Dormitories administers dormitories, which provide facilities for 6000 students on campus.

Ege University is a research based, teaching oriented institution, training students up to Doctorate level. A total of 55,000 students are enrolled at Ege University in the 2012-2013  academic year, the number of the academic staff is approximately 3,000.

Today, Ege University has 13 Faculties,  3 Graduate Schools, 6 four-year Schools, 5 Institutes,  7 two-year Vocational Training Schools and 27 Research and Application Centers.

2: Dokuz Eylül University

Dokuz Eylül University (DEÜ) launched in 1982 and has 15 faculties. DEU is the first university which applied the problem-based learning method in Turkey, beginning in the School of Medicine in 1997.

Dokuz Eylül University actively participates in exchange programmes with many European countries. DEU which participated in the Erasmus Mobility Program since the 2003 – 2004 academic year, has 395 inter-institutional agreements. 3.358 students of Dokuz Eylül University went abroad for training. 1.241 students came to the university from abroad since the start of Erasmus programme.

3: İzmir Yüksek Teknoloji Enstitüsü

İzmir Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as İYTE) is a public research university. İYTE maintains a strong emphasis on the natural sciences and engineering and is the only institute of its kind in Turkey with a special focus on scientific research. İzmir Institute of Technology is among Turkey’s top universities.

İYTE has 16 academic departments, most of which have three faculties.These departments are responsible for the undergraduate programs.

İzmir Technology Development Zone is a science and research park which occupies an area of 225.5 hectares on the campus of IYTE. İzmir – Çeşme highway provides the connection to the airport, seaport, and to the organized industrial districts.
