Studying in Turkey offers many scholarship programs for both Turkish and international students. There are scholarships provided by the Republic of Turkey, scholarships provided by incoming students’ home states, scholarships offered by different institutions and organizations, and scholarships of the receiving universities. The opportunities and amounts offered by the scholarship varies depending on the institution, the program, and the level of education of the students.

Türkiye Scholarships
Türkiye Scholarships is a government funded scholarship program available for international students in higher education. Bachelor’s, master’s and PhD students can all apply to Türkiye Scholarships. The scholarship includes university and program placement, monthly stipend (Bachelor: 1000 TL per month; Masters: 1,400 TL per month; PhD: 1,800 TL per month), tuition fees, once-off return flight ticket, health insurance, accommodation, and one year Turkish Language Course.
TUBİTAK Scholarships
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) offers many different scholarship programs for international students who wish to study in Turkey.
The scholarship is open to all students who want to undertake a graduate degree program in Turkey on the following conditions:
- Applicants must be 30 years old or younger for the MSc/MA programs and 35 years old or younger for the PhD programs
- Candidates who hold a Bachelor’s degree or who are currently enrolled in their fourth year of college
- Applicants holding an MSc/MA degree or currently enrolled in a master’s program who intend to enroll in a PhD program in Turkey
- Candidates who are currently in a PhD program in Turkey
Merit Scholarships
For students with a strong academic background, some of the state universities and foundations in Turkey provide merit scholarships. Scholarships are offered for the course of study. Scholarship includes tuition fee, dormitory housing fees and a 10-month stipend to cover the costs of living.
Scholarships by Universities in Turkey for International Students
Most of the state and private universities in Turkey offer scholarships for international students. While some of them are merit based, there are also different programs with relatively minimal prerequisites. Expectations vary depending on different universities; but here is a few examples from different institutions.
İstanbul University Scholarships:
Istanbul University does not have any scholarship support for international students.
İstanbul University Scholarships:
Istanbul Aydın University gives out unrequited scholarships to the needy, successful, registered and active international students of university who has at least 2 terms of GPA record.
- Achievement Scholarships are for successful students of Associate’s, Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctorate degrees of IAU, who have completed at least 1 term and are registered students with transcripts.
- Students whose Grade Point Average (GPA) is below 2.50 cannot apply for the scholarships.
- The university evaluates scholarship application on a scale of 100.
Sabancı University Scholarships:
International students have the opportunity to gain admission scholarship at Sabancı University. Every international candidate, who applies to Sabanci University, is eligible for a scholarship automatically when they fulfill the application requirements.
