Along with the formation of modern society and the development of democratic system and free market economy, new methodologies and techniques for creating a strong representation in areas such as public relations, publicity, image, propaganda and advertising became more crucial in public domain. As a result of the urgent necessity of means and organisations for propaganda and publicity of the newly formed countries, especially the United States of America, with the aims of self-promotion, proving existence and forming power domains, initiation of the formation process in a professional manner for this field draws attention.

In the same way, in parallel to the development of a democratic system based on the principle of election, politicians tended to find the secret to success in politics among the techniques and methods of public relations such as publicity, propaganda, and advertisement. On the other hand, due to the competition that started together with the transition to a free market economy; companies, organizations and individuals who do business in the market started to consider promotion, advertising, propaganda, as well as public relations as the key to success, so the need for professionalization has emerged in this field. Hence, beginning from the 20th Century, it was inevitable to include public relations in communication education at colleges and universities. At this point, the field of public relations is a promising professional and scientific field within an interdisciplinary pattern.
