The Department of Food Engineering was opened in 2010 within the Faculty of Engineering and started to recruit lecturers as of 2011. With the application made to YÖK with 4 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 2 research assistants in the department staff in 2012, it was decided to start formal education as of 2012-2013 academic year. Currently, there are 4 Associate Professors, 4 Doctor Lecturers, 1 lecturer and 1 research assistant in the academic staff of the department. As of 2018-2019 academic year, the graduate education program has started. Studies are continuing to open the doctorate program.
