The Department of Economics trains economists who will work to conduct research and practice at various stages of economic life, and provides academic formation to individuals who will work in the public and private sectors, using quantitative techniques such as mathematics, statistics and econometrics. Economics education covers two basic processes. The first of these is to teach the economic principles and tools to be used in post-university life and thus to train the qualified workforce that is required by the economic units trying to succeed in the rapidly changing global conditions. The second is to develop the systematic and independent thinking skills of the students, which can be useful in all areas of human life, and to give them scientific discipline in economic matters. In this framework, graduates have the opportunity to work in a wide range of fields by including courses on business, finance and law besides economics courses in the department of economics. After the successful completion of compulsory and predominantly theoretical courses for the first three years, students of the department of economics are also provided to increase their practical skills by directing them to elective courses in the final year. Thus, students are tried to benefit from a wide range of courses and thus graduate with a strong educational background.
