The aim of the Computer Engineering Department is to design and develop computer-based systems and to conduct research and training in the effective use of these systems. The topics taught are from the hardware structure of computer-based systems, programming languages, data structures and algorithms, numerical analysis, database systems, logical design, microprocessors, data communication, system analysis, management information systems, and basic subjects such as mathematics, statistics, physics and support courses.

Lessons are supported by laboratory practices. In addition to theoretical and practical applied courses, students do summer internships both in university computer centres and in IT companies.

Candidates who want to have a computer engineering title are expected to be determined, patient and creative people with academic skills, numerical thinking power and sound logic above the standard. Students graduate as individuals who have adopted the theory, have strong practice, can think independently, are open to continuous development, know teamwork, and have universal values. Graduates with the title of Computer Engineer can work as a business analyst, system analyst, application programmer, test engineer and research and development engineer in almost every sector in the fields of management, industry, finance, and service.

The most common of these tasks are software development and job analysis tasks. On the other hand, database manager, test engineer and system analysts take on issues related to the design and use of system infrastructures which are becoming increasingly important in almost every industry.
