Şanlıurfa Faculty of Theology was first established with Law No. 3389 on June 27, 1987, and Gaziantep University was founded in 1988-1989 Academic Year in Şanlıurfa. The faculty started to operate as a unit affiliated to Harran University with the establishment of Harran University on July 3, 1992. Our faculty is excited to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2017.
Our faculty maintains three basic educational activities: Basic Islamic Sciences, Philosophy and Religious Studies, and Islamic History and Arts. These departments are academic and research departments and do not accept undergraduate students. The Departments of Basic Islamic Sciences and Arts have graduate master’s and doctoral programs, while the Philosophy and Religious Sciences department has only a master’s program.
As HRU Faculty of Theology, our goal is to ensure that our students are trained in different individuals who have a milk imagination of Islamic Civilization, who have behavior in Islamic Sciences, who respect different views and constructive criticisms, and of their unification and development. In graduate programs, our faculty takes an in-depth examination of students’ choices and attempts to bring them to a level that can make scientific and academic contributions to their fields.
