Harran University Department of Plant Protection was established in the early 2000s. Today, the Department of Plant Protection has two separate departments, Entomology and Phytopathology. In Entomology; Studies on insects, mites and nematodes and fungi, bacteria, viruses, weeds and biotechnology in phytopathology are ongoing. He started his undergraduate education in 2000-2001. Graduate and Doctorate education is also carried out in the department, depending on the Institute of Science. Since the establishment of the department, studies have been carried out on insects, mites, nematodes, viruses, bacteria, fungi and weeds, which cause significant losses in plants, especially cotton, cereals, fruit-vineyards and vegetables, which are important cultural plants of our region. The most appropriate combat methods against these organisms, which cause significant productivity losses in agricultural areas and in some cases even limit agricultural production, are researched and applied by considering environmental pollution, natural balance and economy. On the other hand, it is to train Agricultural Engineers who will graduate from the Plant Protection sub-program in the agriculture sector and meet the needs of the sector.
