Mathematics is the basis of all sciences and a language of nature where everything in the universe can be expressed. It is known that there is a need for mathematics knowledge in the infrastructure of all kinds of research. Today, it plays an important role in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Architecture as well as in Business and similar social sciences. Because there is a need for a trained manpower with analytical thinking who can use advanced technology tools in business and social life, produce rational solutions to problems and express them.
Candidates who want to choose the mathematics department should be individuals who like to deal with abstract concepts that are interested in analytical and numerical thinking. Also, being creative is a feature that makes it easier to progress in the profession. In addition to basic mathematics courses in the curriculum of the Department of Mathematics, elective courses in and outside the field strengthen the program. After the basic education given in the first two years, in the last two years, besides the compulsory departmental courses, elective pool is included. Students who have achieved success above a certain level in their courses are offered the opportunity to obtain two undergraduate diplomas by doing a double major in Engineering Faculty and Molecular Biology and Genetics Department or to obtain a certificate in another field besides a bachelor’s degree by doing a minor.
Students and faculty members of the Mathematics Department can benefit from the Erasmus Exchange Program. In addition to working as academics and researchers, graduates of the department have the opportunity to work in many similar fields such as public and private education institutions, finance sector, insurance field, IT and media sector. As a department, it is aimed to train mathematicians who are equipped to adapt to the changing and developing world.
