The curriculum of the Department of Journalism is designed to train skilled and qualified journalists required by today’s media. The purpose of the department is to train journalists who are capable of analyzing the social, economic, cultural and political events within the scope of cause-and-effect relationship, who are loyal to professional ethical values and respectful to public’s right to get accurate and unbiased news, and who are defenders of freedom of press and expression. Theoretical and practical courses are designed to make students discover their skills and improve their creativity on one hand, and enable them to begin to work as individuals who are sensitive to social problems and who have a solution oriented approach on the other. Our students have the chance to apply their theoretical knowledge to practice in university’s radio, television, news workshop and computer laboratory. To prepare the students to professional life, the curriculum is pursued in cooperation with local and national media organizations and trade associations while considering the importance of the collaboration between the media sector and university. In addition, our students have the opportunity to do a double major or a minor in a different program and to be involved in Erasmus + exchange program.
