The grounding principles of the Department of Architecture at Altınbaş University are to embrace an innovative and creative educational approach, follow recent developments in architecture at national and international contexts, support and encourage interdisciplinary academic research, and work for integrating experiences of research and practice.
Within the framework of a learner-centered educational approach, it is aimed to maintain the active participation of students to the learning process, encourage learning by doing, and develop skills of establishing associations, making criticism, interpretation, and synthesis. The ultimate objective is, thus, to enhance the efficiency and continuity of learning. Architectural curriculum comprises courses connecting theory and practice with the aim of developing both generic and subject-specific competences of students. Area elective, humanities and social sciences, and free elective courses together with the opportunities of minor or double major programs encourage the development of a holistic approach to architecture.
